Etegameno Investments – Opportunities in Namibia

Farm Tsumore

Farm Tsumore is situated approximately 7 kilometres from Tsumeb and 118 kilometres north-east of the Etosha pan. The farm, approximately 4 433 hectares in size, borders the famous Lake Otjikoto and is easily accessible from most main roads and service tracks. The farm receives electricity from NamPower and has several boreholes strategically situated on the farm to provide water to its residents and livestock. The farm’s natural endowment, coupled with the increasing opportunities for ecotourism in Namibia, has opened up the possibility of diverse ventures.

Photovoltaic Systems

Etegameno Investments aim to become one of Namibia’s alternative energy suppliers through its photovoltaic solar energy venture.

Namibia is not meeting its electricity demands and is importing electricity from South Africa and Zimbabwe. Both these countries are struggling to keep up with the rising demand of electricity and in the near future may not be able to supply electricity to Namibia. By investing in the proposed photovoltaic parks on Farm Tsumore, investors will enjoy lucrative returns on investment as Etegameno will feed the electricity generated from the photovoltaic parks back in to the national grid and potentially sell it to electricity-heavy businesses like mines. Bush to electricity

Given the vast encroachment of the bush into prime agricultural land and the cost of combating it, efforts to convert ‘bush to electricity’ are gaining popularity. While the technology is new and tests are still being carried out, it is a viable alternative to the current situation in which the bush is merely eroding land value. The industry has great growth potential and could sustain Namibia’s power needs for a long time, all while creating jobs and generating income. The land cleared or reclaimed can be used for livestock production, crop farming or pasture, which will make farming more attractive on account of increased returns.
